Hotel Review: Devera Hotel in Pampanga

Hotel Devera is a newly built hotel in Pampanga located at Don Juico Avenue in Angeles City and just in front of SM Clark.

from google
For a hotel that is new, the staff who accommodate you from the reservation, to accompanying you to the room, to making sure you get everything you need, seems like they have been doing their work for quite some time already.

The hotel is not really big, though it is quite tall (9 story high). Also, you'll notice that beside this hotel is a bank (BDO), which is convenient for those who might run out of cash and of course, for emergency use.

The staff were very nice, accommodating and obedient. Even though, we were a bit younger than most them, they still say "opo" and "po".

from agoda.com

We were lucky that they're having a special promo on all rooms when we checked in, and so we availed it. From Junior Standard room to Junior suite, the price will range from Php1,200 - Php 3,750 (discounted rate) each room.

The most irritating thing when you visit some hotel website is that they edit the actual photo of their rooms. It looks good on their website but when you look at the actual room, it is so different. Well with Devera, what you see on the photos in their website, is what you actually get when you visit their rooms.

The whole hotel smells so good! They have this scent which will make you feel that the whole hotel is extremely clean. And it's a very relaxing scent, too!

The room already comes with complete toiletries. 2 fresh towels, 2 small towels, 2 toothbrushes w/ toothpaste, 1 soap and 1 small bottle of shampoo. The wifi in the room was pretty fast too because every floor has a its own WiFi.

The only fall back was that they don't have any slippers, and that the bed was slightly dirty though you can ask them to change the sheets, first impressions are always important. Right? But to sum up, the whole atmosphere and experience of the room was not that bad at all.

Devera have also started building up their restaurant inside their hotel which they call, D'View. This restaurant is located at the roof deck and you can also order through phone call from you room if you're lazy enough (like us) to go up (unless you checked in to their Presidential Suite which the restaurant is just outside). D'View currently has a promo on all food and drinks that has a 25% discount. But I kid you not, they have a very reasonable price for their food, it is not expensive at all.

THE VERDICT: They have good quality service, the atmosphere of the hotel is peaceful and very accommodating, rooms are beautiful and big. I will SURELY check in to this hotel again when I visit Pampanga. One of the best new hotels with a reasonable price. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

The search for the best Chicken Inasal

Are you a big fan of the chicken inasal that was brought famous by the Mang Inasals, ChickBoys and the like here in Manila?

Well, we found a place that will beat your favorite!

Bacolod, more popularly known as the city of smiles, is also known for their specialty, Chicken Inasal. You will be smiling indeed when you had a taste of their chicken.

You'll notice that there are more than three different local Inasal stores in one place. That is how famous it is in their city. My family ad I went to a trip in Bacolod, and we tried to venture on the search for the best Chicken Inasal. We visited two local restaurants and every penny we spent was worth it!

First we went to, Chicken House which is said to be the first restaurant in Bacolod to have an Inasal on its menu.

Order any inasal in this place and you will not regret it! It is tasty, HUGE, and will make you crave for a whole lot more! (Bet you, I am not exaggerating this!) When we ordered a plate of this perfect dish,I was expecting it like the ones in ordered in Mang Inasal / Chickboy (Which is a bit small) But hell, I was wrong! So so wrong. This is what a normal chicken inasal looks like in Bacolod:

And believe me when I say, it is HELLA yummy!
It will give your taste buds a roller-coaster ride! PLUS it comes with a garlic rice that is the best paired with this tasty chicken.

The second restaurant we went to, is Chick and Grill which is located just across Robinson's Place Bacolod.

If I said that in Chicken House that there chicken is worth every penny you spent, in Chick and Grill, double that and you will definitely be coming back again and again and again.

When you get to this place, they will let you choose if you want to eat outside or if you want to eat inside (which is an air conditioned room.) They also have a separate place if you just want to do take-out.

Chick and Grill will serve you not only one of the best chickens you will ever taste in Bacolod, but you will also be served with one of the tastiest pork chops, barbecues and ribs! There's a certain taste in their sauce that will make you forget everything (and that is probably an understatement for it is really good!) and you'll be grabbing and biting some more.

Also, locals have said that it is a MUST to try their Sago't Gulaman.

There are still tons of these to try in Bacolod and base on what I said on this blog, it is not enough. I guarantee, you won't be disappointed if you visit the two restaurants aforementioned. What are you waiting for? Go and visit Bacolod now! It is probably not a big city like Manila is, but you will love the peaceful surrounding and will definitely enjoy their local food that will leave you and your tummy smile. :)

CAFE : Kuppa

When I was on a trip with my family in Bacolod, a relative of ours actually suggested this cafe that serves killer coffee and pastries.

This cafe is known as Kuppa Coffee and Tea. They also have a branch in Taguig which is named as Kuppa Roastery and Cafe

We ordered some of their signature dishes which are their version of the:
Sanzrival
and

Lava Cake with Gelato

For those who don't know yet, a lava cake is far from the usual chocolate cakes you see. This cake is served super hot and when you cut it, hot chocolate oozes out from it.

It will take about approximately 30 minutes before they serve this cake because they only start cooking it just when you order it. You also get to choose which Gelato you would like to pair your lava cake with. The one in the picture is their mint gelato.

The gelato - lava cake combination, for me, is a great idea. Try scooping a little gelato and add a bit of the lava cake, you will feel like you are eating a cake that was made from heaven (No kidding).

If you want to try to cook this delicious dessert at home, they can provide you the mixture, along with the instructions on how to cook it so you can enjoy your own lava cake at the comforts of your home.

Try to drop by Kuppa in Bacolod or in Taguig and check out their dishes. (Kuppa Taguig's tapa is heaven as well). You will surely go back again and again!

Kuppa Bacolod is located at Capitol Shopping Center, Tindalo cor. Hilado Street, Bacolod City. While Kuppa in the Fort is located at Commerce Center Bldg. 31st St. Corner 4th Ave. Fort Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
